The study of Neuroanatomy represents the basis of the Neurosurgeon’s knowledge. In particular, knowing the anatomical details of the different intracranial areas constitutes the essential starting point for the correct treatment of skull base tumors and vascular lesions. The Laboratory of Neuroanatomy and Training Surgery “G. Cantore” of the I.R.C.C.S. NEUROMED was born in December 2021 and presents itself as a space dedicated to training and research activities on cadaver in Neurosurgery. The Laboratory is located in the Technology Park a few minutes away from the Clinic. “Hands-on” courses focused on the main surgical techniques of the skull base and a Vascular Microsuture course are held every year (website link). The objective, in the following years, is to increasingly expand the training offering, including other surgical branches. This cutting-edge anatomical dissection center, created for the “practical” training of surgeons, is divided into two levels: surgical anatomy and surgical technique. Starting from an in-depth anatomical study, residents and already specialized surgeons experiment, under the guidance of a team of top experts, how to perform surgical techniques on regions of specific anatomical parts derived from cadavers in an optimal way. The IRCCS Neuromed is best practice for the study and treatment of pathologies relating to Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurorehabilitation for all applications relating to Neuroscience. Furthermore, it is also a national center for neurosurgery with a constantly increasing operating activity: on average 2000 operations are carried out per year.
